Simply Hairspray

Simply Hairspray

Ever since I left my big hair back in the 1980’s, chemical hairsprays have not been an important staple in my daily routine. The buildup they would leave on my hair, not to mention my bathroom floor and walls, was really not a desirable side effect. And the smell, yeah my nose and lungs could totally do without. A few years ago, I decided it was time to start making my own and I have never gone back to store bought hairsprays.

This recipe is SOOOO easy!

3/4 cup distilled water

1 T. refined white sugar

1/2 T. vodka

5 drops peppermint essential oil

5 drops lavender essential oil

Heat water to boiling on the stove or in the microwave. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Add vodka and essential oils. Cool and put into a glass spray bottle. If you are in a hurry and don’t have time to wait for it to cool. Heat 1/4 cup of the water to boiling, stir in the sugar to dissolve then add vodka, essential oils and remaining water.

This hairspray provides a light hold and smells wonderful! Enjoy!
